Trump immigration policy may hit US economy hard

A new Federal Reserve study shows Trump's immigration policies could slash US economic growth by nearly a full percentage point in 2025.

That's a huge hit when economists already expect growth to cool to just 1.5% this year, down from close to 3% the past two years.

The surprising finding: reduced border crossings are driving 93% of the economic impact, not deportations.

Under a "mass deportation" scenario removing 1 million immigrants annually, GDP growth could be 1.5 percentage points lower by end of 2027.
