Changing the Face of Public Accounting

It's a week of thanks and I owe a big thanks to Randy Crabtree for featuring my many opinions on our accounting profession in his latest article on Accounting Today. Here's a quick summary:

  1. 100% virtual firms have a huge advantage over brick-and-mortar firms.

  2. The partnership model is on the way out in favor of a more agile, corporate model of accounting firm governance.

  3. The line between partners and staff is going to blur as the partnership model fades away.

  4. The recruitment problem in our profession comes down to long hours, low pay, lack of control over your life, and lack of purpose at work. How do we fix it? Give everyone a say.
